About Janet.
Despite the fact that I took 12 years of piano lessons, graduated from college with a degree in English, worked in the music business and became a graphic designer, it's no surprise that I decided to become a doula. Okay...it is a bit, but let me explain.

I've always had a passion for babies and pregnancy. I actually enrolled in college as a pre-med student with aspirations of becoming an obstetrician. Unfortunately, living away from home for the first time resulted in poor grades in basic science courses, which guaranteed placement in few medical schools in this country. Fortunately, I was spared a career I now realize I didn't really want. I simply wanted to be part of the amazing moment when a new life enters the world, so innocent and full of possibilities. I simply wanted to support mamas in this transformative event and have the honor of witnessing the creation of something beautiful. It would be my pleasure to be by your side on such a wonderful occasion.

I began my doula journey early 2009 in Denver and moved back to NYC in Spring 2010, and am just beginning to meet the mamas who I will be supporting through such an amazing time in their lives. This is especially meaningful to me as I am currently pregnant myself and feel very connected to what they are going through.

"Janet was a terrific source of knowledge and support during what turned out to be a long and hard labor. It would have been a very different birth without her there. Plus, she's a great photographer!" – Rebecca C. (gave birth 8/21/10)

"I don't have any great words to explain what you have done for me. Simply, I can say it was my pleasure to have you by me on the most important day. I can never forget your help and your presence. Thank you very much for everything." – Bibi M.
(gave birth 7/8/10)

"Having Janet at the birth made me feel confident that everything would go fine. She helped me to believe in myself and that I could do it. She was a very kind, compassionate and loving doula. Definitely a great support for the family you won't regret." – Ana M.
(gave birth 7/2/10)
